Sue Grafton: Creator of the Kinsey Millhone Mystery Series
Sue Taylor Grafton was an American author, the daughter of detective novelist C. W. Grafton. She attained worldwide fame as creator of the “alphabet series” featuring private investigator Kinsey Millhone.
After graduating from high school Kinsey became a police officer, but soon tired of the bureaucracy. She quit after two just years on the force and decided to become a private investigator. Kinsey's circle of friends includes her landlord Henry and the local tavern owner Rosie, who cooks dinner for Kinsey most nights.
Sue Grafton’s popular mystery novels have been published in 28 countries and in 26 languages. Many of her contemporaries sold the film and television rights to their books. Not Sue Grafton—her 15-year career as a television movie screenplay writer “cured” her of the desire to work with Hollywood. When G is for Gumshoe was published, Sue Grafton was able to quit her day job.
