Every Penny Counts
141,000,000 people in East Africa live on less than two dollars (U.S.) per day. Here's what U.S. dollars can provide in East Africa:
  • $20 provides twenty digital textbooks
  • $40 provides a school desk which seats up to 4 students
  • $150 provides a school uniform with shoes
  • $300 provides leadership training
  • $500 sponsors a girls workshop
  • $1,000 provides one student a full one-year scholarship

Asante Africa Foundation
Your investment funds much needed education, and personal essentials for African children. It also supports knowledge beyond academics, with life skills, financial skills and supporting young people with the training and resources they need to thrive and lead in their communities.

Asante Africa Foundation is proud to share exclusive photographs by 2013 Getty Images Creative Grant recipients Heward Jue and Elley Ho. Heward is an award-winning art director, designer and photographer based in San Francisco, California.

An avid traveler, he developed a passion for capturing moments with children and villagers in rural settings throughout the world. Heward began photographing Asante Africa projects in 2009, and eventually joined the foundation's board of directors.

Also based in California, educator and commercial photographer Elley Ho has volunteered as a teacher and photographer for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in China, Nepal and Peru. Elley strives to educate people through her images by offering a glimpse into remote parts of the world.

Both of these award-winning photographers have been instrumental in furthering Asante Africa Foundation's Educating Children | Transforming Worlds campaign.

Erna Grasz
Heward’s artistic eye and creative thinking has played a vital role in building our brand. I am always in awe of the finished product, and we are frequently thought to be a much larger organization thanks to his vision and delivery.
